Few months ago, I was thinking about a topic for my thesis and ran across an article about angel investing. I got interested about the topic and started to do more research. That’s when I found out that FiBAN is looking for an event intern, to help in organizing EBAN Helsinki 2019, which is the annual congress of European Business Angels Network (EBAN). I applied without hesitation, got selected, and soon it was already time for me to start my internship.
On Monday morning, I suited up and headed towards the FiBAN’s office at Kamppi. I was feeling quite nervous, but this nervousness turned into excitement as soon as I entered the office. The whole FiBAN team greeted me with warm smiles and hugs by making me feel immediately as part of the team. I'm super excited to work with such a motivated team, which is willing to teach me new skills, such as writing news and blog posts.
During my first week, I got the chance to participate in several FiBAN activities such as FiBAN Academy, Nordea Private Banking event and got the chance to check out the EBAN Helsinki 2019 event venue, Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory). I was surprised to see how many events FiBAN organizes. I especially enjoyed learning about how to scale up your business and meeting many angel investors.
On Friday evening, when I got off from work, I almost shouted on the street “I made it!”. Probably every intern’s thought after first week at work, since the first week is always full of new information. The week was great, and I can’t wait to put in practice all the skills that I have learned during my finance studies at the University of Oulu.
Wish you a week filled with laughter and great projects with great people.
