In 2015 of the companies pitched at PitchFinland 19 % received investment from one or more FiBAN angel investor. The involvement of FiBAN angels has increased 6% since 2014 when 13% of the companies presented received investment from one or more FiBAN angel. Also interesting to notice that less companies (104) were presented in 2015 meaning an increase in the average investment readiness of the companies. Additionally 15 % of the companies reported that they hadn’t received FiBAN angel investment, but from other channels, making a total 34 % invested companies. The received investment result is very positive as typically approximately 10% of the companies approaching angels receive the requested investment. This shows that that the largest regularly organised startup presentation event PitchFinland also actively leads to new investments.
The results were gathered through calling all entrepreneurs that had pitched during the year 2015. The questions included asking for feedback from the entrepreneurs. In general most entrepreneurs found PitchFinland to be a useful event for networking and meeting investors. The biggest challenge seemed to be continuing the discussion after the pitching event. This is one of the reasons syndication discussions and support after pitching events is one focal topic for FiBAN in 2016. The companies that were screened but not approved for investment or pitching all received valuable investor feedback to support their growth goals.
